A growing network of positive energy

EKOenergy thrives on the enthusiasm of many.

Since our start in 2013, we have got help from tens of local organisations and from hundreds of volunteers and trainees (including many translators). Our common goal is to promote renewable energy, to help nature and to fight climate change.

We also reach out to the electricity sector and to electricity consumers. Our aim is to help them make the right choice and to give them concrete tools to make a difference. And they seem to appreciate this, as both the number of sellers and the number of consumers increases steadily.

Read our Annual Report 2015 or Annual Report 2016 to find out what we achieved last years.

Climate projects

One of the tools to make a difference is our Climate Fund. For each MWh of EKOenergy sold, the seller pays minimum 10 cents to that Fund. We also welcome extra donations.

With the first money of the Climate Fund, we financed small scale solar projects on schools in Tanzania, Cameroon and Indonesia.

River restoration projects

Via the sales of EKOenergy labeled hydropower, we collect money for the EKOenergy’s Environmental Fund. That Fund is also known as ‘Fish Fund’, as the money goes to river restoration projects. We finance several projects per year.

Since 2016, we are also partners in an ambitious and large scale project, focusing on river restoration in Finland. That project is funded by the LIFE program of the EU.
