15.12.2017 : Karlina Ozolina and Laura Kothe, from the EKOenergy team, went to visit Pieni Suklaatehdas (“Little Chocolate Factory”) in Porvoo. This artisanal chocolate factory is not only making bean-to-bar chocolate without any additives or preservatives, but also using renewable EKOenergy-certified electricity for their production.

Standards and labels: help speed up the energy transition!
Standards and ecolabels can play a role in a transition towards a 100% renewable society. One of the reason why ecolabels exist, is to help consumers to do more and to push complete sectors in a more sustainable solution. Unfortunately, only a handful of standards explicitly recommend renewable energy. And those doing it, often mention the use of renewable energy as an optional, not obligatory, requirement.
