Saimaa seals have difficulty giving birth due to climate change
We’ve already grown used to news of glaciers melting and polar bears losing their natural habitat. The melting of glaciers seems a concern distant from our everyday lives, but climate change is also affecting species in Finland. The Saimaa ringed seal is a sad example of a species falling victim to climate change.
Athletes for EKOenergy
The opening ceremony at the Rio olympics had a very environmentally focused theme, and more and more athletes are using their notoriety and status to fight for good causes. That’s why at EKOenergy we are seeking renowned sports stars, leaders in their field, to show their support of the Environment and EKOenergy.
18.11.2016 : 100% renewable is the solution
5 years ago, only a handful of people believed a 100% renewable economy was feasible. But now global leaders from government, business and the UN all call for a transition to 100% renewable energy worldwide to achieve the climate goals of the Paris Agreement.
18.10.2016 : Drink responsible – Sustainability in the brewery sector
Burning fossil fuels for energy production is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. As brewing is a water and energy intensive process, finding ways to reduce consumption and creating a more sustainable process is one of the company’s key objectives. 16.05.2016 : Ecotourists for a 100% renewable world
EKOenergy promotes renewable energy and we are constantly looking for new ways to reach as many people as possible. Cooperation is one of the keys of our success. To get results, we have to join strenghts with likeminded organisations and actors. Recently, we were brainstorming about new potential partners. And hotels kept on popping up.
2.04.2016 : Stop complaining – EKOenergy is fun!
Times are changing fast. And despite all worrying evolutions, there are also changes for the better. Renewables are no longer expensive, unreliable and unrealistic.
