Thanks for 2013, looking forward to 2014
21 December 2013
2013 was a good year for EKOenergy.
Exactly one year ago, we created the network, after 18 months of preparation and consultation. And in the months thereafter, a lot as happened. In January we organized a public hearing at the European Parliament. In February we approved the criteria for the first and only pan-European ecolabel for electricity. In March we presented EKOenergy at the RECS Market Meeting, and ECOHZ signed our Licence Agreement. Between March and May we presented EKOenergy to hundreds of stakeholders, e.g. at an event organized by our Spanish member Ecoserveis. In June we got our first consumers in Iceland and Norway. Since July the LEED Standard for buildings explicitly refers to EKOenergy. “The EKOenergy electricity certification scheme represents the best available pan-European option for the sustainable and additional consumption of renewable electricity within Europe”. During the summer holidays, we launched our website, which has since been translated to 24 languages. In September, the Slovenian EKOenergy member recruited somebody to work on EKOenergy in Slovenia. In October we organized an EKOenergy day in Latvia and workshop with CDP in Helsinki. In November, there was an EKOenergy day in Estonia.
After 1 year of work, EKOenergy has members in 22 countries, and 15 companies have signed the Licence Agreement, allowing them to sell EKOenergy.
We want to thank all who have supported and helped us in 2013. Our 75 volunteer translators, our 8 trainees, our 5 EVS Volunteers, our first consumers, the Licensees, and many many more… It was great to have you with us in 2013. Without you, we wouldn’t be what we are.
Enjoy the Christmas time, and all the best for 2014.
As for us, we are having big plans for 2014, and we are looking forward to realizing them together with you.
