Como ONG de conservaci\u00f3n de la naturaleza, nuestra prioridad con respecto a la energ\u00eda renovable es, por supuesto, su sostenibilidad y su impacto en la biodiversidad.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/EKOenergy-rowing-event-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-84754\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/EKOenergy-rowing-event-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/EKOenergy-rowing-event-320x240.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/EKOenergy-rowing-event-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/EKOenergy-rowing-event-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/EKOenergy-rowing-event.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption><em>EKOenerg\u00eda financi\u00f3 y se uni\u00f3 al evento de remo para manifestarse en contra de la construcci\u00f3n de una nueva presa en el \u00fanico tramo de libre flujo de Kemijoki en 2018.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Lamentablemente, la energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica sigue representando la mayor parte de la producci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda renovable en muchas partes del mundo, a pesar del enorme y creciente potencial de la energ\u00eda solar y e\u00f3lica. Esto incluye el norte de Europa, donde la ecoetiqueta EKOenerg\u00eda comenz\u00f3 su trayectoria en 2013. Somos conscientes de que muchas de las instalaciones hidroel\u00e9ctricas existentes no son sostenibles y sus operaciones pueden ser mejoradas hasta que dejen de ser necesarias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Siempre que hablamos de la energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica etiquetada como EKOenerg\u00eda, nos hacen preguntas como:<br>\u00bb \u00bfTrabaj\u00e1is con <strong>peque\u00f1as hidroel\u00e9ctricas<\/strong>? \u00ab<br>\u00ab\u00bfAprob\u00e1is las <strong>grandes hidroel\u00e9ctricas<\/strong>?\u00bb<br>\u00abPero esta planta hidroel\u00e9ctrica no cumple con el <strong>requisito de antig\u00fcedad<\/strong> para el sistema de clasificaci\u00f3n de edificios verdes LEED, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 EKOenerg\u00eda la aprueba?\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En este art\u00edculo, responderemos a estas y otras preguntas que a menudo nos hacen en relaci\u00f3n con la energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica etiquetada como EKOenerg\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La fauna y la flora no deber\u00edan pagar por nuestros objetivos de energ\u00eda renovable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 es importante la sostenibilidad del sector hidroel\u00e9ctrico? La respuesta es clara: <strong>los peces migratorios de agua dulce est\u00e1n entre los animales m\u00e1s amenazados del planeta<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/animals\/2020\/07\/migratory-freshwater-fish-decline-globally\/?fbclid=IwAR0B4INIu00eCeyys6WxObctbm5O_p9c0LpRxUJYFGbqDi1n00vFGt5jMcg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Un estudio<\/a> revel\u00f3 que a nivel mundial, el n\u00famero de peces migratorios de agua dulce est\u00e1 disminuyendo m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidamente que el de las especies migratorias tanto en tierra como en el oc\u00e9ano. Las presas de las centrales hidroel\u00e9ctricas que bloquean la migraci\u00f3n de los peces y, por lo tanto, impiden su acceso a las zonas de reproducci\u00f3n, son una de las principales causas. La p\u00e9rdida de h\u00e1bitat debida a la reorientaci\u00f3n del cauce de los r\u00edos para la generaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica tambi\u00e9n tiene un impacto negativo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan el <a href=\"https:\/\/worldfishmigrationfoundation.com\/living-planet-index-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Living Planet Index for Migratory Freshwater Fish<\/a> de la World Fish Migration Foundation, <strong>Europa ha experimentado la mayor disminuci\u00f3n de las poblaciones de peces de agua dulce migratorios en los \u00faltimos 50 a\u00f1os<\/strong>, con una asombrosa disminuci\u00f3n del 93%, seguida de Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe con una reducci\u00f3n del 84%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-medium\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/Threats-to-freshwater-fish-LPI-320x290.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-84948\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Threats-to-freshwater-fish-LPI-320x290.png 320w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Threats-to-freshwater-fish-LPI-1024x928.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Threats-to-freshwater-fish-LPI-768x696.png 768w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Threats-to-freshwater-fish-LPI.png 1410w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>EKOenerg\u00eda apuesta por soluciones pr\u00e1cticas para llevar la industria de las energ\u00edas renovables hacia un lugar m\u00e1s sostenible, y tiene como objetivo hacer que los consumidores de energ\u00eda sean m\u00e1s conscientes del impacto de la generaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda renovable en el medio ambiente. La energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica, que representa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/hydropower\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">m\u00e1s del 50% de la capacidad mundial de generaci\u00f3n de electricidad renovable, sigue siendo la principal tecnolog\u00eda de electricidad renovable<\/a> y, por lo tanto, exigir pr\u00e1cticas sostenibles al sector hidroel\u00e9ctrico marca una gran diferencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los responsables de la toma de decisiones y los inversores han tardado d\u00e9cadas en demostrar su ambici\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica, pero los consumidores tienen el poder de dar forma al sector de la energ\u00eda adoptando medidas inmediatas. Al permitir que los consumidores de EKOenerg\u00eda hagan uso de nuestro logo en su comunicaci\u00f3n, esperamos fomentar todos los pasos positivos en la direcci\u00f3n correcta. <strong>Entonces, \u00bfen qu\u00e9 se diferencia la energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica etiquetada por EKOenerg\u00eda?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. EKOenerg\u00eda no aprueba nuevas instalaciones hidroel\u00e9ctricas y requiere medidas de sostenibilidad en las existentes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>La energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica etiquetada por EKOenergy cumple con <strong>criterios de sostenibilidad adicionales<\/strong>, para asegurar que se tomen medidas adicionales para proteger la biodiversidad. Lo que es familiar para muchos es que las normas y las etiquetas ecol\u00f3gicas requieren instalaciones \u00abnuevas\u00bb, mientras que son exactamente las nuevas presas hidroel\u00e9ctricas las que da\u00f1an los ecosistemas locales. <strong>EKOenerg\u00eda no aprueba la construcci\u00f3n de nuevas presas<\/strong> y la aprobaci\u00f3n de EKOenerg\u00eda de una instalaci\u00f3n hidroel\u00e9ctrica debe ser renovada cada 5 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dado que la mayor parte de la generaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda renovable proviene de fuentes hidroel\u00e9ctricas, EKOenerg\u00eda facilita a los consumidores de energ\u00eda la b\u00fasqueda de una energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica m\u00e1s sostenible que las que posiblemente da\u00f1en la biodiversidad local. Puede leer m\u00e1s sobre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/ecolabel\/\">los criterios de sostenibilidad de EKOenerg\u00eda<\/a> para la energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica aqu\u00ed. En resumen, no se trata del tama\u00f1o de la instalaci\u00f3n, sino del <strong>impacto ambiental<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los criterios de sostenibilidad de EKOenerg\u00eda para la energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica incluyen los siguientes elementos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Las especies de peces t\u00edpicas de la cuenca hidrogr\u00e1fica pueden pasar la instalaci\u00f3n hidroel\u00e9ctrica <strong>r\u00edo arriba y r\u00edo abajo por su cuenta<\/strong> seg\u00fan sea necesario.<\/li><li>El funcionamiento de la planta garantiza un <strong>flujo de agua adecuado e ininterrumpido<\/strong> a trav\u00e9s del canal de derivaci\u00f3n o de las turbinas.<\/li><li>Los <strong>h\u00e1bitats para las especies<\/strong> que habitan y se reproducen en los ecosistemas fluviales est\u00e1n disponibles en el tramo de la masa de agua donde se encuentra la central hidroel\u00e9ctrica.<\/li><li>La ecoetiqueta EKOenerg\u00eda s\u00f3lo es aplicable a la generaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda a partir de presas y barreras construidas <strong>antes del 1 de enero de 2013<\/strong>.<\/li><li>A trav\u00e9s del Fondo Ambiental de EKOenerg\u00eda, 0,10 \u20ac\/MWh de consumo de energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica se destinan a <strong>proyectos de restauraci\u00f3n de r\u00edos que restauran los h\u00e1bitats de las especies acu\u00e1ticas.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Vea tambi\u00e9n nuestro corto video sobre los criterios de energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica de EKOenerg\u00eda en Youtube:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"EKOenergy&#039;s criteria for hydropower\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-rcUNh7vCKo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Los usuarios de EKOenerg\u00eda ayudan a financiar proyectos de restauraci\u00f3n de r\u00edos<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/es\/our-results\/environmental-fund\/\">El Fondo Ambiental de EKOenerg\u00eda<\/a> financia proyectos de restauraci\u00f3n del lecho de los r\u00edos, incluyendo la eliminaci\u00f3n de presas. Esto significa que quienes compran electricidad procedente de instalaciones hidroel\u00e9ctricas pueden tener un <strong>impacto positivo adicional para revitalizar las especies fluviales<\/strong> al optar por la etiqueta de EKOenerg\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estos proyectos tienen lugar en partes del mundo donde se realizan las ventas de energ\u00eda renovable etiquetada como EKOenerg\u00eda. Hasta ahora, la energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica etiquetada por EKOenerg\u00eda se encontraba principalmente en Finlandia y Alemania. Los proyectos que recibieron financiaci\u00f3n gracias a los usuarios de EKOenerg\u00eda incluyen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Environmental-fund-leaflet-2018-English-Germany-Schnegaer-Muehlenbach.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Restauraci\u00f3n de los h\u00e1bitats del mejill\u00f3n de r\u00edo en peligro de extinci\u00f3n en Alemania<\/strong><\/a>, en cooperaci\u00f3n con el BUND Niedersachsen.<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Environmental-fund-leaflet-2018-English-Finland-Nasijarvi.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Restauraci\u00f3n de la poblaci\u00f3n de trucha marr\u00f3n en la cuenca del lago N\u00e4sij\u00e4rvi<\/a><\/strong>, en cooperaci\u00f3n con la Sociedad Finlandesa para la Conservaci\u00f3n de los Arroyos (Virho &#8211; Virtavesien hoitoyhdistys).<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Environmental-fund-leaflet-2018-English-Finland-Jyvaskyla.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Salvando los mejillones perla de agua dulce en peligro de extinci\u00f3n en Finlandia<\/a><\/strong>, en cooperaci\u00f3n con la Universidad de Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4.<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Environmental-fund-leaflet-2018-English-Finland-Vihtijoki.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Construcci\u00f3n de un pasaje para peces alrededor de la presa de Olkkalankoski<\/a><\/strong>, en cooperaci\u00f3n con la Sociedad Finlandesa para la Conservaci\u00f3n de los Arroyos (Virho &#8211; Virtavesien hoitoyhdistys).<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Environmental-fund-leaflet-2018-English-Finland-Kokenmaki.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">La eliminaci\u00f3n de las barreras de migraci\u00f3n de peces en Finlandia<\/a><\/strong>, en cooperaci\u00f3n con la Organizaci\u00f3n de Protecci\u00f3n de Kokenm\u00e4kijoki (KVVY).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Desde 2015, el Fondo Ambiental de EKOenerg\u00eda ha financiado <strong>24 proyectos por un valor de m\u00e1s de 400.000 euros<\/strong>. Comparativamente, dado que la mayor\u00eda de los consumidores de EKOenerg\u00eda eligen la energ\u00eda procedente de instalaciones e\u00f3licas y solares, nuestra contribuci\u00f3n a la lucha contra la pobreza energ\u00e9tica en los pa\u00edses en desarrollo <strong>supera el mill\u00f3n de euros<\/strong>.
