SCHOTT, a leading international company in the areas of specialty glass, glass-ceramics and glass innovations, closed two Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Engie for electricity from German solar and wind farms. The total volume of the deal is 200 gigawatt-hours and all electricity will get the EKOenergy label. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCHOTT has been using EKOenergy-labelled electricity for several years through a variety of sourcing methods, not only in Germany, but in almost all countries where they are active. We thank SCHOTT for showing leadership and choosing the EKOenergy label regardless of the sourcing method they use. We congratulate them on this new step and also thank everyone who has been involved in this deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our non-profit ecolabel is an efficient and globally available tool to take positive steps regarding the 5 dimensions of leadership in the transition to 100% renewable energy<\/a>. In addition to our sustainability criteria to minimise negative impacts on ecosystems, every MWh of EKOenergy-labelled energy contributes to new clean energy projects in developing countries<\/a>. EKOenergy users also support our work to promote renewable energy worldwide. Through the advocacy work and the concrete additional impact we get through financing new small-scale projects for vulnerable communities, EKOenergy ecolabel addresses multiple Sustainable Development Goals. With PPAs, we want to make an even more concrete contribution to the energy transition.
