Eight new projects, funded by users of EKOenergy-labelled energy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We just approved funding for eight new renewable energy projects through our Climate Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By choosing EKOenergy-labelled energy, energy consumers automatically contribute to EKOenergy’s Climate Fund. Thanks to the growing community of EKOenergy users worldwide, we are granting an additional \u20ac332,617 to eight initiatives that expand access to clean energy, strengthen healthcare and food security, and support sustainable livelihoods in underserved regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These projects, implemented by experienced non-profit organisations in close cooperation with local communities, demonstrate how renewable energy can deliver tangible social and environmental benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EKOenergy’s Climate Fund: From renewable energy to real impact<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

EKOenergy\u2019s Climate Fund is built on a simple idea: every megawatt-hour of EKOenergy sold, contributes at least \u20ac0.10 to new renewable energy projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This collective effort enables solutions that go far beyond access to electricity. These projects can significantly improve healthcare, enhance water supply, strengthen agriculture, and support local economies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly selected projects reflect a wide range of needs and contexts, while sharing a common goal: using renewable energy to improve lives and support a just global energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Democratic Republic of Congo – Electrifying maternal healthcare<\/strong>
<\/strong>The Kigongo health centre will receive solar panels and battery storage, ensuring reliable electricity for maternity and child care services. The project will benefit approximately 46,500 women and girls, while also creating a small-scale income model to sustain the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cameroon – Reliable energy for rural healthcare<\/strong>
<\/strong>Implemented by ESARDEF, this project will install solar systems at two remote health centres in Babong and Mpkot, serving around 15,000 people. Reliable electricity will enable night-time care, safe childbirth, and proper vaccine storage, while local residents will be trained to maintain the systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zimbabwe – Solar-powered water and agriculture<\/strong>
<\/strong>The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission will install solar-powered boreholes, water tanks and irrigation systems, benefiting approximately 2,400 households. The project will improve access to clean water, boost food production and reduce water-borne diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Papua New Guinea – Sustainable farming with solar irrigation<\/strong>
<\/strong>In Madang province, solar-powered irrigation systems will support the transition to sustainable agriculture. The project will improve food security for 150 people while helping protect around 3,500 hectares of rainforest from deforestation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda – Clean energy for health clinics<\/strong>
<\/strong>Three health clinics in the Adjumani district will be electrified with solar systems, improving services for over 100,000 people annually, including refugees. The project will replace costly diesel generators and reinvest savings into system maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peru – Supporting indigenous communities in the Amazon<\/strong>
<\/strong>In collaboration with Amazon Watch, solar energy and internet access will be provided to 20 remote Chapra communities. Beyond energy access, the project strengthens communication, environmental monitoring, and indigenous self-governance to help protect the rainforest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bolivia – Solar-powered agroforestry<\/strong>
<\/strong>In the Bolivian Amazon, solar irrigation and drying technologies will support sustainable agroforestry systems. The project will improve incomes, reduce waste, and promote biodiversity protection among indigenous communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gambia – Empowering women and improving health services<\/strong>
<\/strong>Solar systems will be installed at a rural health centre and a community kiosk, supporting healthcare and women-led businesses. The project will improve food storage, increase incomes for women farmers, and enhance access to essential health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
