EKOenergy\u2019s Climate Fund<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Fundraising for renewable energy projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EKOenergy consumers of all sizes contribute at least ten euro cents (\u20ac0.10) per megawatt-hour to EKOenergy\u2019s Climate Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through our open and transparent selection processes<\/a>, these funds are entirely allocated to new renewable energy projects in low- and middle-income countries. Coordinated by experienced non-profit organisations, these projects are comprehensive community-prioritised initiatives that extend beyond installations. They are holistic projects designed to address energy poverty and align with multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EKOenergy was launched in 2013. We were able to fund the first projects in 2015 and, since then, we have financed a total of 133 projects with a combined sum of +9 million euros.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ensuring a significant positive impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EKOenergy\u2019s Climate Fund supports a just energy transition in priority communities – those that are often the most impacted by the climate crisis despite contributing the least to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every cent from EKOenergy\u2019s Climate Fund is directed to organisations that coordinate these community projects in collaboration with their local partners. No funds are diverted to cover administration or other expenses of the Climate Fund, ensuring your contribution goes where it matters most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our selection processes serve a dual purpose: ensuring both high quality and significant impact, while also playing a pivotal role in managing potential risks. The EKOenergy Secretariat coordinates the selection processes, in which experts from several fields and a group of EKOenergy sellers and corporate consumers are involved on a voluntary basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every project is unique and designed to specifically address the needs of the community where the project is taking place. Solid exit strategies guarantee that the benefits are not fleeting but become a lasting and integral part of the communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
