EKOenergy is featured on pages 46, 50-52.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Standards and organisations referring to EKOenergy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nordic Ecolabel &amp; EU Ecolabel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/nordic-ecolabel-vector-logo.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-102996\" style=\"width:279px;height:155px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/nordic-ecolabel-vector-logo.png 900w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/nordic-ecolabel-vector-logo-320x178.png 320w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/nordic-ecolabel-vector-logo-768x427.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nordic-ecolabel.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nordic Swan Ecolabel<\/a> was established in 1989 by the Nordic Council of Ministers as a voluntary ecolabelling scheme for the countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Nordic Swan Ecolabel covers 59 product groups, including more than 200 product types. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several of their recently approved criteria texts give extra points for the use of EKOenergy-labelled electricity, such as the criteria for Printing Companies and Printed Matter and the criteria for Food Services and Conference Facilities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some criteria texts of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/ecolabel\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EU Ecolabel<\/a> also give points for the use of ecolabelled energy, and in most European countries EKOenergy is the only available ecolabel.&nbsp;The European Ecolabel for Tourist Accommodation Services (i.e. hotels, hostels,\u2026) gives extra points if the electricity contract is ecolabelled by an independent entity and if the ecolabel promotes the investment in new renewable power capacity. EKOenergy fulfils these requirements.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Green Key<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/greenkey-1024x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-102975\" style=\"width:235px;height:235px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/greenkey-1024x1024.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/greenkey-320x320.jpeg 320w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/greenkey-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/greenkey-768x768.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/greenkey-1536x1536.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/greenkey-2048x2048.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenkey.global\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Green Key<\/a>, a prestigious, international ecolabel for tourism establishments, recommends choosing ecolabelled electricity and gives extra points to hotels and hostels for doing so. Green Key explicitly mentions EKOenergy as an ecolabel that brings additional value to electricity contracts: <em>&#8220;If available, the establishment is encouraged to consider purchasing ecolabelled electricity. This means that the electricity is not only renewable, but the ecolabelling also ensures that it is third-party verified and fulfils additional sustainability criteria, e.g. taking biodiversity into account, financing projects that combat electricity poverty, new clean electricity projects, etc. Examples of electricity eco-labels are EKOenergy, Green-e, Bra Milj\u00f6val, etc.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Greenhouse Gas Protocol<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"280\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Greenhouse_Gas_Protocol_logo.jpg\" alt=\"Greenhouse_Gas_Protocol_logo\" class=\"wp-image-11196\" style=\"width:250px;height:230px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Greenhouse Gas Protocol is the worldwide standard for carbon accounting. EKOenergy-labelled electricity always fulfils the requirements of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Scope 2 Guidance. Our summary and its translations are available on the same page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CDP<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-medium is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"137\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/cdp-logo-320x137.png\" alt=\"cdp-logo\" class=\"wp-image-11120\" style=\"width:240px;height:103px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/cdp-logo-320x137.png 320w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/cdp-logo-1024x438.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/cdp-logo-768x328.png 768w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/cdp-logo.png 1188w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdp.net\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDP<\/a>  is a nonprofit organisation helping companies and public authorities disclose their environmental impact and supporting them to develop effective carbon emission reduction strategies. More than 20,000 organizations are disclosing their environmental information through CDP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On pages 15 and 16 of its publication <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/CDP-Accounting-of-Scope-2-Emissions_2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Accounting of scope 2 emissions<\/a> (i.e. emissions related to the production of purchased electricity) CDP writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"199\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/RE100-report-image-320x199.png\" alt=\"RE100-report-image\" class=\"wp-image-11272\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/RE100-report-image-320x199.png 320w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/RE100-report-image-768x479.png 768w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/RE100-report-image.png 993w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cEcolabels are a way for companies to do more with their purchases.  The GHG Protocol Scope 2 Guidance mentions the EKOenergy label as an option, as it is a mark of quality that comes on top of tracking certificates. Electricity sold with the EKOenergy label fulfils strict environmental criteria and raises funds for new renewable energy projects. Involvement, transparency, and \u2018deeds not words&#8217; are important principles of EKOenergy\u2019s work.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/RE100_Leadership_Paper.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Business Leadership in the Transition to Renewable Electricity<\/a> by the RE100, CDP, and the Climate Group refers to <em>\u201cthe international EKOenergy label, which tackles energy poverty through its Climate Fund and provides additional environmental guarantees to protect nature and habitats\u201d<\/em> (page 19).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">LEED<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"243\" height=\"245\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/LEED-logo-USGBC.jpg\" alt=\"LEED logo USGBC\" class=\"wp-image-11234\" style=\"width:175px;height:175px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/LEED-logo-USGBC.jpg 243w, https:\/\/www.ekoenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/LEED-logo-USGBC-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>LEED (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/new.usgbc.org\/leed\" target=\"_blank\">Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design<\/a>) is a rating system for green buildings. LEED names EKOenergy as one of the best available options and its rating system gives extra points to buildings using EKOenergy-labelled electricity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>European version<\/strong> of the LEED Standard explicitly recommends the use of EKOenergy-labelled electricity. As a result, buildings aiming at LEED certification can get extra points if the electricity used in that building is EKOenergy-labelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The text <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usgbc.org\/resources\/leed-2009-bdc-supplemental-reference-guide-alternative-compliance-paths-europe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LEED 2009 BD+C Supplemental Reference Guide with Alternative Compliance Paths for Europe<\/a> gives EKOenergy the same status as Green-e labelled RECs in the US. (p.82).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The same is mentioned on page 37 of the standard for <a aria-label=\"Existing Buildings \u2013 Operations and Maintenance Guide (EBOM) (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usgbc.org\/resources\/leed-ebom-2009-reference-guide-supplement-europe-acps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Existing Buildings \u2013 Operations and Maintenance Guide (EBOM)<\/a>.
