Once a year, we take a moment to highlight some special achievements by presenting awards in 4 categories.
One of the 4 EKOenergy awards is the Orchid Award, for the authorised EKOenergy seller with the best presentation of EKOenergy on its own website. We regularly refer interested energy consumers to our authorised sellers. To make it as easy as possible for interested consumers to choose EKOenergy, it’s crucial that they can easily find information on how to buy EKOenergy on the website of the EKOenergy sellers, preferably with a clear contact person for further assistance.
We are happy to announce that Ecohz, the internationally renowned provider of renewable power solutions, is the winner of the Orchid Award 2025!
When we launched EKOenergy in 2013, Ecohz was the first to become an authorised seller, and soon after, Ecohz’s dedicated staff added clear information about EKOenergy to Ecohz’s website and other sales channels. The website has been renewed several times since, but the EKOenergy page has always remained easy to find. Additionally, Ecohz regularly shares updates about EKOenergy, using this as an opportunity to direct its audience to the information about EKOenergy on its website.

Why orchid?
Orchids are a diverse and widespread group of plants and colourful and fragrant flowers characterise many of the orchids. Orchids are cosmopolitan plants, growing in diverse habitats on every continent (apart from Antarctica). Many orchids are epiphytes, meaning that they grow on the surface of other plants, contributing to nutrient cycles and adding to the diversity of the ecosystem in which they occur. Similarly, EKOenergy can be a valuable addition to the portfolios of our authorised sellers.

We spoke with Alex Ruelas, Communications Manager at Ecohz, about the company, its cooperation with EKOenergy, and the plans for the coming months and years.
Hello Alex, could you tell us more about Ecohz?
Ecohz simplifies the path to net zero by tailoring sustainability solutions. We have been in the renewable energy business since the creation of the energy tracking systems that now function worldwide, and we use that experience to guide organisations through the complexities of reducing emissions. Decarbonising a business is not straightforward, so we are here to make it easier — and to help companies create real impact as they do it.
How does EKOenergy fit into Ecohz’s strategy, and why have you dedicated a special page of your website to EKOenergy?
Ecohz was one of EKOenergy’s original partners. We were among the very first sustainability solution providers that believed the ecolabel could spark real-world change — and we still do. That is why we continue to demonstrate to clients how EKOenergy amplifies the positive outcomes of choosing renewables globally.
What are the main reasons for your current EKOenergy clients to choose EKOenergy?
EKOenergy buyers are looking for additional impact. They want a clearer connection between their purchases and tangible co-benefits. EKOenergy provides a simple and reliable way to achieve that.
How do you see the renewable energy market developing, and what role do you see for EKOenergy in the coming years?
The renewable energy market is growing. Demand is increasing, and buyers are becoming more sophisticated. Once companies have a handle on procuring renewables, they look for options that elevate their climate efforts. As a global ecolabel, EKOenergy is uniquely positioned to help achieve that.
What do you personally like most about EKOenergy?
I love reading the stories of the projects supported by the Climate Fund. Buying EACs (Energy Attribute Certificates) can seem removed, but with EKOenergy the impact becomes much more concrete. These are real projects and real people experiencing the benefits of clean energy first-hand. It is also a valuable contribution to a more equitable energy transition that I am happy to be part of.
