Once a year, we take a moment to highlight some special achievements by presenting awards in 4 categories.

We regularly refer interested energy consumers to our authorised sellers. To make it as easy as possible for interested consumers to choose EKOenergy, they must be able to find clear information on how to buy EKOenergy on EKOenergy sellers’ websites, preferably with a clear contact person for further assistance. Becour’s webpage is a very nice example! We also appreciate that Becour makes efforts to increase the visibility of that page, for example, by referring to EKOenergy in its blog, social media updates, and presentations.
Why orchid?
Orchids are a diverse and widespread group of plants, often with very colourful and fragrant flowers. Orchids are cosmopolitan plants, growing in diverse habitats on every continent (apart from Antarctica). Many orchids are epiphytes, meaning that they grow on the surface of other plants, contributing to nutrient cycles and adding to the diversity of the ecosystem in which they occur. Hello Synnøve, thank you for working with EKOenergy! Could you tell us a bit more about Becour and Becour’s ambitions?

At the center of this is Marbly, our digital platform for peer-to-peer trading of Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs). To ensure real additionality, our business model guarantees that at least 80% of all proceeds go straight back to the energy producers, funding the developers who actually expand global renewable capacity.
How does EKOenergy fit into Becour’s strategy and why have you dedicated a special page of your website to EKOenergy?
EKOenergy fits right into our core focus on transparency and real-world impact. For us, energy shouldn’t just be “green” on paper. EKOenergy steps up where standard Guarantees of Origin end, imposing strict biodiversity criteria and funding climate and river restoration projects across the globe. We built a dedicated page on our website to show our clients a well-proven path to choosing eco-labeled energy, making it clear why EKOenergy stands out in corporate procurement.
What are the main reasons for your current EKOenergy clients to choose EKOenergy?
Our clients choose EKOenergy because they want a claim that holds up under scrutiny. By combining biodiversity protection and contributions to global climate funds with full recognition from CDP, RE100, and LEED, EKOenergy offers them a straightforward, highly credible way to prove genuine climate action.
How do you see the renewable energy market developing, and what role do you see for EKOenergy in the coming years?
The market is shifting fast. We are moving away from simple annual volume-matching toward direct impact, full transparency, and temporal matching. With regulators, investors, and buyers actively calling out greenwashing, basic compliance is no longer enough. This is where EKOenergy becomes even more relevant – providing the third-party rigor and verifiable external impact that ambitious companies need to stay ahead.

What do you personally like most about EKOenergy?
What I appreciate most is how EKOenergy turns additionality from an abstract concept into practical, real-world impact. It’s not just a label, it’s a requirement that the energy comes from a place that’s run properly, and that some of the value goes back to the community around it. It makes procurement a practical driver for real change.
