Proudly promoting reliable tracking
EKOenergy is proud and happy to be a supporting association of the I-REC Standard Conference (ISC) 2024, which will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, on the 2nd & 3rd of July 2024. Pre-conference sessions will take place on the 1st of July 2024.
Reliable tracking is one of EKOenergy’s essential requirements. In Europe, reliable energy tracking happens with Guarantees of Origin; in North America, RECs fulfil the same role. In other regions, I-RECs have become the most common tracking instrument. EKOenergy was amongst the first to endorse I-REC’s work. We have approved I-REC certificates for reliably tracking the origin of EKOenergy-labelled electricity since the launch of the I-REC standard in 2014-2015. In many countries, particularly in Asia and Latin America, we have reached out to stakeholders and entered the energy markets side by side with I-REC users.
A unique opportunity to learn about reliable tracking of energy
The I-REC Standard Conference, organised by the I-TRACK Foundation, is a unique opportunity to exchange information on many aspects of Energy Attribute Certificate (EAC) systems. The conference will provide opportunities to evaluate, review, and discuss many exciting developments: the growing I-REC markets, the recognition of I-REC certificates in standards and policy documents worldwide, the development of tracking instruments for other types of energy such as biomethane and hydrogen, and much more. The audience will include industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, and environmental advocates. The conference plays an important role in shaping the future of renewable energy markets worldwide.

The I-REC Standard provides confidence to consumers by ensuring that the renewable energy they purchase is accurately accounted for. I-REC also facilitates the integration of renewable energy into energy markets, promoting fair competition and market efficiency.
