We proudly announce that this year’s EKOenergy Bamboo Award goes to Nordic Green Energy Sweden!
What is “EKOenergy’s Bamboo Award”?
The bamboo plant’s key aspects are its strength and record-breaking growth rate, which are self-explanatory. In addition to being a useful material for many products, bamboo also stores high volumes of carbon and thrives without any fertilizer. We decided to present the licensee who has had the highest growth percentage of EKOenergy sales in the past calendar year “EKOenergy’s Bamboo Award”.

In 2016, Nordic Green became the first energy company to sell EKOenergy-labelled electricity in Sweden; launching their EKOenergy electricity product with a celebration in the ABBA Museum in Stockholm. It was a really fantastic event and an inspiring start to our partnership with them.
Why Nordic Green Sweden deserves EKOenergy’s Bamboo Award 2020
On their website and in their communication activities, Nordic Green Sweden informs their customers about the successes of the EKOenergy label worldwide (Swedish), such as our international work and the Climate Fund projects financed by EKOenergy sales.
Furthermore, inspired by the results of the Finnish “Protect Our Winters” campaign EKOenergy supports, Nordic Green Energy approached the Swedish Protect Our Winters branch and launched the campaign Rädda våra vintrar together.
There’s no simple formula for success, but we can say proactivity and sustained communication efforts have clearly been central in Nordic Green Sweden growing their EKOenergy sales more than 5 fold.
We asked Mikael Söderman, CMO of Nordic Green Energy Sweden, how they convince their customers to choose EKOenergy-labelled electricity and grow their EKOenergy sales: “We work hard to make our customers aware of the benefits of renewable energy. Additionally, we promote the EKOenergy choice to both individual consumers and companies. In most of our meetings with possible customers, we share information and promote the EKOenergy solution. To achieve such a great success, it has been important that our sales staff knows EKOenergy and the reasons why to choose this product. Another important explanation for our success is the good cooperation we have with EKOenergy in communication. Together we can continue the change towards a more sustainable world.”
