ForGreen is an Italian company that develops energy sharing projects and provides 100% renewable electricity to people and companies across the country. ForGreen also promotes the culture of energy sustainability, contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and helps its customers save on energy costs, contributing to the development of clean and accessible energy for all.
One example is Energia Agricola a KM0, the first Italian agro-energy community 100% EKOenergy-labelled energy, promoted by Coldiretti Veneto and ForGreen, enabling members to benefit from renewable energy at advantageous prices.
As part of our ongoing EKOappetite campaign, which focuses on the use of EKOenergy in the food sector, we talked to Alex Vantini, farmer and president of Coldiretti Verona, who has actively promoted the use of renewable energy in the agricultural sector.
What made you decide to go with ForGreen’s EKOenergy-labelled energy?
I aim to run my business with solutions that are efficient and sustainable, both economically and environmentally. I was drawn to ForGreen and its products through innovation and finding the right partners, as they align perfectly with my business vision.
Do you think that openly declaring your company’s sustainability is important for sending a positive message and encouraging other companies to do the same?
I believe this is the perfect time to promote sustainability. The awareness of younger generations and the need to change our attitudes towards the environment lead us to make more thoughtful choices. It’s crucial to advocate for good practices that benefit both the environment and society. I hope to contribute, in my own small way, for the good of the community and future generations.
Do you believe that the demand from final consumers for a more sustainable agricultural supply chain is increasing?
Consumers’ increasing focus on food produced through sustainable farming practices is evident, and farmers must communicate their work transparently and reliably to meet this growing market demand. Today, all Italian agri-food products are obtained using sustainable agricultural practices, making Italian agriculture the most eco-friendly in Europe.
What would you advise other companies in the industry to do if they want to do more for sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility? And what role does energy play?
We realized the importance of energy resources only after concerns about supply reductions due to ongoing conflicts arose. It is crucial to value energy carefully, avoiding waste. The most ethical choice is transitioning to renewable energies, enabling companies to promote an ethos that benefits not only profits but also the local community.
Thanks for this interview, Mr Vantini.
